Description
Advanced Quantum Compiler Engineer - 925
We are seeking an Advanced Quantum Compiler Engineer in our Broomfield, CO Location.
As quantum hardware rapidly scales toward fault-tolerant systems, compiler technology is becoming one of the fundamental enablers of practical quantum computing.
At Quantinuum, our compiler team develops critical software that translates our users' groundbreaking quantum applications to hardware-specific operations that execute efficiently on our world-class hardware. We tackle some of the hardest compiler and optimization problems in quantum computing, including scalable routing across trapped-ion architectures, compilation for fault-tolerant quantum systems, and architecture-aware optimizations. With the support of physicists, quantum error correction (QEC) experts, and fellow compiler engineers, we co-design the software stack that will compile algorithms into tailored, executable instructions for our trapped-ion quantum computers. Through this work, we are building the compiler technologies that enable scalable, fault-tolerant quantum computing on increasingly capable hardware.
In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize software used at compile-time and run-time that enables our next-generation quantum computing platforms. You will be responsible for projects that design and implement new platform capabilities and expose them to users. Working with subject matter experts, your contributions will develop new and improve existing quantum platform capabilities and optimize the execution of logical and physical quantum circuits.
As a member of our team, you will help build the compiler technologies that make large-scale quantum computing possible. You will directly impact how future quantum computers are programmed, optimized, and ultimately used to solve problems beyond the reach of classical computing.
All applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of compiler front-end (quantum languages), back-end (machine-specific targeting), and optimization (quantum circuit optimization and classical optimization) passes operating on both classical and quantum operations
- Benchmark, profile, and optimize the execution of our compiler and the quality and performance of quantum programs it generates
- Collaborate on the design and implementation of a compiler targeting a real-time, distributed, execution environment
- Work with a diverse team including physicists and other engineering disciplines to solve complex problems
- Write high quality, maintainable code in an R&D and rapid prototyping environment
YOU MUST HAVE:
- Bachelor's Degree minimum
- Minimum 3+ years of industry or post-graduate experience in an engineering, lab, or R&D environment
- Minimum 3+ years of programming experience with Rust, C++, or similar language
- Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
- Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
WE VALUE:
- Masters/PhD degree in Computer Science, EE, Physics or other relevant field
- Coursework in compiler fundamentals and a strong understanding of compiler design
- Ability to understand, combine, and apply algorithms to solve complex problems
- Experience developing and extending compiler infrastructures (LLVM, MLIR, GCC, Cranelift, custom research compilers, or equivalent).
- Ability to solve complex problems and ability to communicate how you did it
- Track-record using python or other rapid prototyping and development tools to solve complex challenges
- Rust development experience with a track-record of contribution to open-source and commercial projects
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of algorithms, including tree, graph, SAT, and, at times Machine Learning and other algorithms
- Experience with development of application-specific algorithms, especially where exact/optimal solutions are computationally intractable
- Experience with testing and correctness verification of compiler transformations and optimizations
- Proficiency with software testing and deployment tools
Compensation & Benefits:
The pay range for this role is $138,000 $173,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate's skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
