Job Summary Under limited supervision, performs advanced professional work involving civil and construction engineering principles, with a focus on Capital Improvement projects and computer-aided drafting and design (CADD). Responsible for preparing detailed engineering drawings, maintaining CADD standards, supporting project design and coordination, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Provides technical expertise, quality control, and training support related to drafting systems and engineering design.
Examples of Duties Develops and maintains project drawings using AutoCAD and manages drawing libraries Assists engineers with design development and reviews CAD drawings from consultants Prepares preliminary and final construction drawings and plans Produces maps, graphics, and presentations using drafting software Coordinates drafting and engineering functions across departments Applies knowledge of civil engineering, surveying, and construction specifications Maintains and updates Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) database Serves as liaison with consultants regarding CADD drawings Attends public meetings, hearings, and project conferences Designs civil, structural, architectural, and MEP construction drawings Conducts site inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications Performs engineering calculations and technical analysis Ensures compliance with applicable laws, policies, and regulations Provides training and technical support on AutoCAD and CADD systems Coordinates project activities with departments, agencies, and utilities Conducts quality control reviews of CADD drawings Prepares reports, exhibits, and documentation for decision-making processes Assists with administrative tasks including permits, bid packages, and document control Maintains project documentation and tracking systems Communicates with stakeholders including engineers, contractors, agencies, and the public Operates standard office and technical equipment Performs related duties as required
Requirements
Typical Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or related field Minimum three (3) years of experience in CADD systems or related field Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered Valid driver’s license required Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
