Description
Job Summary
Provides practical nursing support in delivering quality patient care within a physician practice or clinic setting under the direction of a physician or mid-level practitioner. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and departmental policies and standards. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients across the lifespan.
Key Responsibilities
Provide nursing care for patients of all ages
Complete patient assessments including height, weight, vital signs, chief complaint, and medication review
Prepare patients for provider evaluation, including specimen collection, positioning for exams, assisting with procedures, and documenting medications
Coordinate tele-retinal and tele-dermatology clinic setup
Administer medications and injections as directed
Maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, x-ray rooms, and lab areas in a clean and safe condition; restock and sterilize equipment as needed
Document patient information accurately and timely in the electronic medical record, including treatments, refills, test results, and patient concerns
Support performance improvement activities
Provide patient education as directed, including lab results, medication instructions, diet guidance, and follow-up care
Assist with referral authorizations and pre-authorizations for testing and ancillary services
Perform lab-related duties including specimen collection, labeling, preparation, quality control testing, and adherence to QA protocols (if applicable)
Perform radiology procedures as directed, ensuring safety and proper documentation (if applicable)
Follow all safety precautions and proper disposal procedures
Perform additional duties as assigned within scope of training
Requirements
Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required, or new graduate eligible to sit for licensure exam
Experience:
One (1) year experience in a physician office preferred
Licensure/Certification:
Current licensure as a Practical Nurse (LPN) required
Radiologic Technician Limited license required if performing radiology
Current AHA BLS-HCP certification required

Proficiency with automated computer systems and electronic medical records
Keyboarding skills required
